Gonna Miss You Eve…

By alyssaforxeau

I’ve had to make the very difficult and sad decision stop playing Eve. I’ve been playing for over three years now, and I’m just about to start a new job that needs my full focus, and for me to work extra hours. Eve for me has been one of those games where you log on and never stop finding things that you need to do, and that along with the temptation to spend late nights out PvP’ing would be too much for me to resist. So I’ve had to make the hard decision to stop playing, and to remove the temptation of getting back into it again by giving my characters, ships, and isk away. Being part of a major alliance that has given a lot to me, I will be giving my two combat characters (58M and 43M SP Capital Pilots) and three manufacturing characters to the alliance, as well as my capitals (3 Phoenix’s and 3 Chimera’s). I can’t give out the name of the alliance, because I have friends in my corp who will kill me if they find out I’m not giving the isk to them, and I want to have one last bit of fun before I go. When I first started playing Eve, someone helping me out in Rookie Chat gave me 10 million isk after seing that I was a new starter, and for no other reason. That 10 million isk allowed me to buy skillbooks and set up my character, and start enjoying Eve – and for that I have been forever thankful. It’s for this reason that in leaving Eve, instead of giving my isk to the alliance that will blow it on fueling pos’s to make even more isk or buying capitals for people that can already afford them anyway, I’ve decided to give it to people that actually need it and can make good use of it.

So like I said above, I wanted to have some fun before I finish playing. I’ve seen several people in the same position, where they’re leaving the game, doing it a couple of different ways – ‘Send me 1 million isk and I’ll send you 10 million back’, or ‘Send me any amount of isk and I’ll send 10 times that back’. I want to do it in a similar way, but withou having a hard limit, such as 1 million, or doing many donations to the same person. I want to help as many people out as I can with the isk that I have, so I’m not going to give people 10 times their money back, and I don’t have the time or patience to incrementally increase people’s wallets by doing five or ten transactions (can you imagine how many people I’m going to be giving isk to – I’m going to struggle to do one transaction per person!).

I also want to make sure the isk is going to people that need it, and can make use of it. I will not be giving away more than 500 million to one single person. If you have more than that, you have enough isk to enjoy the game, and you can use that isk to make more isk – as I, and many other people have. I also want to make sure that my isk goes to honest, trustworthy, open minded people – so I have come up with the following, based on what I was talking about above.

I will allow one transaction per person, and I’ll jot down the names as I go so that people don’t rort the system. The amount of isk I give will be proportional to the amount of isk that you have (capped at 500 million as I said before), to ensure that you’re getting enough isk to make a difference, but not winning the lottery (I don’t want to give a rookie pilot a hundred million, or fuel an Eve-Poker player’s gambling addiction). I’m giving the isk in good faith, and in accepting it, you must agree to use it wisely, in a way that will build your wealth in Eve (buying a mining or mission running ship, investing in trading goods or manufacturing etc). So I will return double the amount of isk sent to me by anyone in the next two weeks (ending on the 9th of July). If you send the isk while I’m offline, or if you don’t get it back within a few minutes (ie, I’m afk), please send me an Eve-mail confirming the amount you’ve sent. Please don’t contract or trade me, this avoids the whole purpose of what we are doing, and please only convo me if necessary as I will be extremely busy answering requests. I will post at the top of my bio when my isk falls below 10 billion.

So enjoy the isk, use it wisely, and one day down the track when you’ve got more isk than you need, think about that person that helped you when you were starting out, and offer them the same generosity that helped you on your way.
